Mr. Cristian Pascu: "Romania primarily needs to balance the needs of online and land-based sectors"

Mr. Cristian Pascu:

At the 5th edition of the Eastern European Gaming Summit (EEGS), which was held on 14-16 October, 2012 at Metropolitan Hotel, we were interviewing key speakers about important industry topics for e-Game Spectrum magazine.

Cristian Pascu is a founder member of the Romanian Gaming Association of Organizers and Producers (RGAOP) since 1995. He is also directly involved in the project and adoption of the actual gaming law in Romania. Since 2001 he is elected as a Vice-president and since 2007 as Executive President of RGAOP.

During the Interview Mr. Cristian Pascu, Executive President of Romanian Gaming Association of Organizers and Producers (RGAOP) shared that at the moment gaming sector does not feel fair treatment from the state authorities regulation in Romania. The Association is lobbying to change the present gaming law, which has been in force since 2009. In their efforts the Romanian Gaming Association is trying to smooth the existing conflict of interests, balancing between different groups and members, in order to successfully effect the Gaming Law.

The successful development of the gaming sector in Romania primarily needs to balance the needs of online and land-based sectors and in the process of adoption of proper regulation. It is necessary a level playing field to be provided for both sectors and they to be treated in the same fair way. Mr. Pascu also shared that the 20-25% tax on the actual win makes no favor to any of the concerned parties, neither to the budget, the operators or not even to the players.
