The UK AWP market has literally undergone a revolution over recent years which was plain to see at this year’s EAG show in London. The traditional single-game, reel-based AWP machines are now being replaced by stylish multi-game video cabinets. These cabinets, which are no longer wooden but made of high-quality steel, may cost a little more up front – but operators are able to enjoy a much higher return on investment over time thanks to their durability.
Indeed, the days have nearly gone that an AWP machine would move from location to location and that its components would ultimately be ‘greened’ (re-used). Today, it is only the game content changes in these higher-end AWP machines, which means that the cabinet itself remains on the floor for longer periods of time, and all the hardware within it must be able to work impeccably for years.
It is for this reason that AWP operators are beginning to demand more from their banknote validators. They know that, in the event one of these devices fails, the entire game would be taken out of service. Players, no longer able to enter their banknotes, would leave the machine and, possibly, the entire establishment – putting the operator’s return on investment, as well as their overall profitability, at risk.
Rising to meet this challenge is the SC Advance banknote validator from CPI.
Anette Jauch, CPI sales director for EMEA Gaming, draws upon her international experience to comment on the parallels between the UK AWP market and other European street markets such as in Germany. “It has been proven in Germany that video-based multi-games not only up the entertainment level for long-time AWP players, but they also attract new players – and therefore increase operating revenues. The SC Advance complements this value proposition perfectly, and it has proven itself on a global basis year-in and year-out. Its industry-leading first-time acceptance rate of genuine notes, track record for rejecting any frauds, and ability to handle all types of notes – new notes, street grade, paper and polymer – all offer a strong return on investment while also giving operators total peace of mind. Machine uptime is essential, and using SC Advance is the best way to optimise a gaming floor. It’s the ideal solution for the UK market.”
CPI also made full use of informing visitors of the SCR Advance™, the highly efficient banknote recycler built upon proven SC Advance technology and hardware mechanics “Banknote recycling is often the next stage for operators who are moving from low-cost banknote acceptance to a higher class solution,” said Jauch. “Its ability to use the same notes it accepts to dispense as winnings can extend machine uptime even further by eliminating coin hopper starvation.
“So, whether note acceptance or note recycling, we have the best solutions in the industry with SC Advance and SCR Advance – and more operators in the UK AWP market are embracing that by specifying our products. Our footprint is growing.”
