Konrad Gill to speak about the Synergy between land-based and online operations at the Eastern European Gaming Summit (EEGS)

As one of the most crowded season for igaming is almost here, we have managed to catch up and do a short interview for a preview about what Konrad Gill shall speak about at the Eastern European Gaming Summit. Konrad is the Head of Interactive Division at Casino Technology Interactive and is one of the key speakers of the SYNERGY BETWEEN LAND-BASED AND ONLINE OPERATIONS panel.

EEG: Hi Konrad, we would like to get a few informations to have a sneak preview about what the discussion and presentation will be all about. Judging your experience, we can say that you have a strong understanding of the land-based and online gambling environment. What is in your opinion the key factor of a land-based operation to venture into the online business?

Konrad: The biggest advantage of a land based gaming operation is the physical presence and reputation as trustworthy operator. One of the biggest concerns of online clients is due to the, at least at the moment, only virtual nature of the gaming experience trust and reputation. Here a land based renown operator is truly in advantage, so this advantage has to be communicated with a clear brand strategy, consistent marketing and a streamlined customer service experience.

EEG: Do you have any experiences with such ventures taking on the challenges of getting licensed online and achieving greater incomes?

Konrad: The main issue at the moment is regulations. Most countries do have separate legal frames, licensing procedures and taxation for online and land based gaming. Countries like Bulgaria and Romania with new, modern laws already made steps towards the technical reality of convergence. The interesting thing is that in every market where traces of convergence are allowed local, legal (often land based) companies have a relatively high market share, these local operators tend to comply with the rules and regulations and – also important for regulators – pay their tax locally. I am convinced that more and more regulators will realize the advantages and more legislations will allow, if not encourage convergence.

EEG: We know that you get asked this question on probably every interview, but which Eastern or Central European country should the industry focus on at this moment and of course do you think that maybe the number of land-based business in that country will convert to online business at a higher rate than online operators seeking to expand to that country?

Konrad: Land based companies going “online” should focus on the markets where they have presence.

Pure online operators are probably there already, often operating out of another legislation for some time.

If you would like to get the unique opportunity to ask all your important questions and learn first-hand details about how to synergize land-based and online gambling operations be sure to attend the Eastern European Gaming Summit in which Mr. Konrad Gill shall give his expert opinion and to benefit from the presented gaming tips and strategies.
