In an exclusive interview, Milena Tsankarska, Project Manager, presents the opportunities for students and graduates provided by BEGE through their Volunteer Programe and Career Center.
GS: Hello, Milena! How is the 12th edition of the exhibition going?
MT: The event preparation is in its most active phase. We are proud to announce that virtually all of the exhibition space has been already booked. A great number of new companies have recognized BEGE as the prime vehicle for presenting their services and raising awareness of their upcoming products and initiatives. At the same time we are working on enhanced optimization to offer our exhibitors more benefits and ultimate comfort while participating, as well as the opportunity to present their products and create important business contacts. A series of integrated events have been also planned: Gaming Startup Challenge, the start-up competition that began four years ago; Special Presentation Area where participants and stakeholders from related sectors will be able to present and give more insights about the key aspects of their business activities and services; Innovation Area where exhibitors will be able to further present their latest developments and expand the focus and exposure of their products and services.
GS: Over the past years BEGE Expo has been actively working in several additional but important areas such as a volunteer program and a career center development. Would you tell us more about those initiatives?
MT: One of the main aims of BEGE Expo is to provide an opportunity for students and recent graduates to find their place in the gaming and entertainment industry. The Volunteer Program is dedicated to both students and young professionals who have started their careers at home or abroad and now are looking for gaining more practical skills in organizing large-scale international events. The Volunteer Program offers a number of benefits such as active participation in one of the leading gaming events in Europe; free passes to the Eastern European Gaming Conference; valuable contacts with representatives of some of the world's leading international companies; gaining a certificate and award and much more. Along with the hard work, there will be entertainment and networking of course! All volunteers will have the opportunity to attend the official cocktail reception and parties and share the experience of the most glamorous award ceremony for achievements in the gaming industry which will be held at the official BEGE party.
GS: What are the opportunities for those who will not be able to join the volunteer program but are still looking for industry development?
MT: Career Center is the other initiative that BEGE Expo is actively developing. It allows young students to get more information about internship and career opportunities in the gaming and entertainment industry. Young people with interest in the gaming field may visit the Balkan Exhibition of the Gaming and Entertainment Industry (BEGE) and the Eastern European Gaming Conference (EEGS) from 19 to 21 November at Inter Expo Center, Sofia. Students may bring a CV with them and visit the HR Career Center stand on BEGE (20-21 November). They will be warmly welcomed by our HR experts who will inform them about all the opportunities, vacancies and other insights from the industry. By the way, for visiting the exhibition it is obligatory for them to show they are over 18 years of age.
GS: Do you consider such kind of initiatives as positive for the business?
MT: Such initiatives could help any company or organization to establish a proven business ethic in finding and developing talents, which later on encourage a highly professional code of practice over the distance.
Also it is vital to develop competency and skills in young students and professionals, which is crucial for any business that aims to always follow the new standards that are continuing to emerge globally within our industry.
