30/06/11 – Australia’s Government announced a wide-ranging review of the Interactive Gambling Act 2011 (IGA), joining two parliamentary consultations and an inter-government probe. In a brief announcement, the Department of Broadband, Communication and the Digital Economy explained that the review will include an examination of the operation of the IGA and the effectiveness of the current provisions, amongst others. Currently, internet betting on sports fixtures is permitted in the country, but casino-style online gambling is not allowed.
