16/05/11 - Macedonia is set to open its online gambling market for the first time, while simultaneously overhauling the regulation of the land-based sector. The new legislation, which was passed in March 2011, will require online gambling companies to apply for a Macedonian licence and will impose a 10% tax on revenue. Gaming and amusement operators, on the other hand, will face a 20% tax on revenue rather than the current system of monthly payments. The legislation is due to be enacted on 5 September 2011.
