The Eleventh edition of the leading gaming conference in the Eastern European region brought together more than 40 distinguished panelists and speakers, who are part of the world’s biggest gaming manufacturers, operators and consulting companies, for two days of high-level content, focusing strongly on gaming business innovation.
The program of EEGS 2018 included key topics from the world of gaming. Starting with important regulatory updates from the European jurisdictions: Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, Switzerland & Malta, going through the most talked about technology developments, digital marketing, future opportunities and other essential themes.
The risks and solutions, provided by the Blockchain technology for the gaming industry were another highlight from Day 1 of the conference. Alex Kornilov from Betegy and Laura Crimmons from Silverthorn Agency were the key speakers from the Marketing track. Millennial market, DFS and Social gaming were also discussed on the first day.
When it comes to eSports, there are a lot of promises of an extremely lucrative market with high potential. But what exactly is in it for brands considering to move into the sector and what opportunities and challenges are betting operators facing at the moment? The answer of this question gave Jessica Maier, German Attorney, MELCHERS LAW, Nicholas Aquilina, Attorney Brandl & Talos Attorneys at Law and Mario Ovcharov, CEO, UltraPlay. They were unanimous: “Esports is the fastest-growing industry that is engaging millennials like never before”.
This year’s Global Gaming Women (GGW) Lunch session discussion was centered on the art of leaning in and reaching out –an art arguably worth mastering in order to succeed in the gaming industry. Jessica Maier, German Attorney, who was leading the discussion, shared her professional and personal experiences and invited the participants to do the same. In an informal atmosphere they made a lively conversation of women development in the gaming industry.
A proper final of the first day of the conference was given with an IMGL Masterclass, thus keeping the balance between intensive learning panels and refreshing networking events. The topic of the Masterclass was: “When the gambling and games collide”.
On the second day among the key topics was “Are regulators micro-managing gambling operators out of the market?”, presented by David Clifton, Director, Clifton Davies Consultancy Limited. Alex Haberl, Regulatory Development Manager (GLI Europe) gave an elaborate speech about the European Markets Development. Another vital topic from the gaming industry nowadays was featured in the program of Day 2 -Mergers and acquisitions. Speakers in the mentioned panel were James Scicluna - Co-Managing Partner (WH Partners), Dr. Joerg Hofmann, Senior Partner (Melchers Law Firm), Nicholas Aquilina, Attorney (Brandl & Talos Attorneys at Law) and Bartosz Andruszaniec, Senior Associate (WH Partners), who involved the audience in an intensive discussion.
