Eventus International is proud to announce that the Sports Betting & Gaming India Conference (SBGI) is scheduled to take place27th - 28th February 2018 in Goa.
The event, a first-of-its-kind to be held in India, will evaluate the potential and impact of legalised gambling in the country. The Indian government’s willingness to consider and clarify gambling legislation presents a rare entry opportunity to operators, suppliers, and investors in the industry, and as such, the conference will dive straight into the opportunities and benefits that could come with clear and well-defined legalised gambling.
According to a report by the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), the Indian Gaming Industry is valued at USD 890 million, and is estimated for an annual growth rate of 14.3 percent with mobile gaming taking the lead at 71 percent of the share. Heavy restrictions have been placed on gambling and sports betting in India: the Indian Contract Act treats an agreement that is based on wager (or chance) as void. However, according to the Doha-based International Centre for Sports Security, India's illegal sports betting market is worth USD150bn per annum. Much of this is directed towards cricket. According to the FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), a tax is imposed on the industry will present the government with an opportunity collect between two to three billion USD per annum.
The SBGI conference will have as key focus the crucial role responsible betting and gambling plays in a legalised environment. It will interrogate the severity and scope of illegal activities, and focus in on how citizens can be protected against some of the out falls of irresponsible gambling, such as bankruptcy.
Panel discussions will evaluate how other countries regulate gambling – the successes and lessons to be learnt, as well as the socio-economic and financial benefits of legal (and illegal) gambling. Experts will share their insight and advice on the challenges and opportunities of entering the Indian market, and will also debate how to move gaming initiatives forward by keeping pace with future technologies and opportunities. Money laundering and the newest in payment technologies will also feature on the agenda.
SBGI is the ideal opportunity for gaming operators and the industry to evaluate entry opportunities and stay ahead of their competitors.
