The Largest Festival of Electronic and Traditional Sports in Bulgaria Game Evolution 2016 Is On.

The event’s first edition offers a number of amusements for all ages. Arena Armeec Sofia hall is now open for the guests of the highly anticipated festival of electronic and traditional sports Game Evolution. At an explosive ceremony, the festival’s first edition was inaugurated by Kassadin – a three-metre high prototype of the popular Leagues of Legends protagonist, made by hand for the event’s visitors on this special occasion.

‘It is truly amazing that a $4 billion industry with a huge audience worldwide is still looking for its place on the Bulgarian market. Despite the attempts of some colleagues and friends in the last couple of years to show the benefits of eSports to the general public, part of the Bulgarian society and business milieu is still steeped in old and ill-founded prejudice against the sector’, said Dimitar Alexandrov, organizer of Game Evolution. ‘The world gets increasingly digital and electronic games proved long ago that they help with the development of many practical skills such as creativity, analytical thinking and self-discipline – skills which are and will be applicable in different professional areas.’

In addition to the numerous prizes Game Evolution had prepared, the organizers delighted the visitors with their hosts, too – the actor Alexander Kadiev and the music producer Edi Kazasyan would take care of the high spirits during the three-day festival. Alex who is an under-cover e-games fan will guarantee the fast motion on the big scene, and Edi will stand by the friends of the high adrenaline and the traditional sports.

The festival which takes place with Sofia Municipality and Sofia – European Capital of Sport Foundation as endorsers offers activities in three main groups:

eSports: The tournaments have a guaranteed prize pool of BGN 21 000 and include some of the most popular electronic games: League of Legends, CS:GO, Hearthstone, Overwatch and Warcraft 3. FIFA blockbuster will be played on 20 PlayStations in a special studio with a real football commentator. Up to date, the tournaments are the biggest on the Balkans and will be attended by foreign teams from Romania and Greece who have passed the online qualifications.

Traditional sports: A street basketball tournament, including dunks is being held in front of the hall with the support of the Bulgarian Basketball Federation and a prize fund of BGN 1 000. The tournament will be held in three age groups: juniors below 15 YO, boys and girls below 18 YO and men and women over 18 YO. In addition, Bulldozer team will talk in detail about the American football which is so popular overseas and there will be a skate zone with free access.

Other: The best funk, b-boying (break) and hip-hop dancers have started to compete at the Dance Evolution battles with the special participation of the ‘Gods of the Dance’ Remi, Teos and Jimmyboy. Twenty-four of the best dancers in Bulgaria will hit the big stage in 8 teams, three people each. They will fight the dance battles 3:3, one and the same team combining the popular funk, b-boying and hip-hop styles. The team to demonstrate top dancing skills will grab the first award of BGN 1.200. In addition, there will be a cosplay contest and the winners will be designated by Desire ‘Daisy’ Tirolo and ‘Vale Imriel’ Notari – the worldwide known Italy’s representatives at this years’ edition of World Cosplay Summit. There is also a specially-designed racing zone with 4 fully-equipped seats and high-tech virtual world goggles.

‘Game Evolution first edition is certainly a very ambitious endeavour which we wouldn’t have been able to bring to life without the moral and financial support of our partners and colleagues from across the country. I’d like to thank them on behalf of our organization for their vote of confidence which we are determined to justify once again in 2017’, Dimitar Alexandrov added.

Game Evolution offer an accommodation package at a preferential price for the guests who need a place to stay at and do not want to miss the gaming event of the year. Kids under 6 are free, and pensioners and disabled people are offered a 50% discount.
